Patient Service Representative

Front Desk (Part-Time)

Position Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for registration of patients and administrative functions for daily operations by performing the following duties. This position is secondarily responsible for checking patients in for scheduled appointment, collecting patient payments, entering charges, and verification of coverage prior to visit.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Verifies insurance eligibility, deductibles, and co-pay prior to each scheduled visit.
  • Collects payments from patients as well as all other co-pays and post to patient accounts
  • Responsible for collecting all information needed to complete billing process for patients including charge information from physicians and accurately entering data
  • Supports functions of eligibility interviewer as well as posting patient charges and handling cash
  • Processes, submits and tracks applications; updates Centricity patient information when necessary, assists patient with provider assignment
  • Verifies insurance eligibility at time of service if not done in advance of visit
  • Notifies Director of Finance of all process breakdowns to monitor quality assurance
  • Provides clients with referral information for other agencies
  • On occasion responsible for opening or closing front office to assure that all daily super bills, schedules, and money bags are ready for current day processing
  • Registers patients and determines eligibility on an as needed basis. Completes all duties in accordance with HIPAA policies and procedures and confidentiality regulations   
  • Returns all phone calls from patient inquires with 24 hours
  • Answers telephones, manages caller needs with the appropriate health center services and writes concise messages concerning calls      
  • Knowledgeable of AHCCCS application process and documentation requirements
  • Knowledgeable of daily cash balance and deposit reconciliation for all monies
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • 1-2 years relevant work experience

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Arizona Driver License
  • Proof of insurance and Arizona Motor Vehicle division 39 months Motor Vehicle Report

Required Qualifications:                      

  • Bilingual, English / Spanish verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Proven strong communication skills a?? oral and written correspondence are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate style, grammar and tone

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Procedure Coding and Billing Certificate
  • Experience in ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Experience of Practice Manager System/Centricity
